Our sustainable boho styled tipi shoot

I love all things boho, so that was always going to be my starting point. I’m also all about sustainability and trying to find ways where ever possible to be less wasteful. I understand sustainable isn’t always the most cost-effective route, but when it comes to the environment, I think every little helps.

I’m loving the trend with all the muted colour palettes, pampas grasses and dried florals at the moment.  They add gorgeous textures with the added benefit of being reusable. I’d also seen work by Emily of Faux Bloom and was impressed at the quality and ‘realness’ of what she offers, so was really keen to have her on board. And that was really my starting point.

I started looking on Pinterest – how did we create mood boards before Pinterest? – created a board to share my thoughts and Clare, of Turmeric House and our talented resident stylist, and I jumped on a call to get started.

“When we were chatting through the mood board it immediately made me think of undone raw foraged elements, I had visions of drapes and greens, frayed edges and greenery growing out from the tipi. With Canvas & Light’s charming boho elegance in mind I delved into our treasure trove of props to create interactive and memory sparking moments around the site.”

Once we had our vision I set about getting the team together.

Photographer Abigail White happens to be a school Mum friend of mine. I just love her fresh and striking photographic style. Luckily, she has a very handsome brother and his other half Chermain is a model, so that took care of our bride and groom. Gemma Louise provided hair and make up and when Emily mentioned Kerri of Bridal Indulgence who was keen to be involved, I went on to her website for a look. I was soooo excited to see this two piece. It was perfect.

“When I arrived at the tipis on the Thursday afternoon we had a site walk and a creative meeting, The off-white giant hat tipis make such a stunning blank canvas. I got out my sketch pad and got scribbling. We hatched a plan to create several moments around the space. These included; a ‘living installation’ of ivy and greens wound horizontally around a central pillar using Nikki’s antique Edison pendant lighting; interactive table tops; foliage displays and sculptural draped cottons; sprayed crab trap lighting.”

“Outside of the tipis we set up the ethereal naked ceremony tipi up on a hilltop, where Hidden Valley has its’ beautiful ceremony trees looking out over the Surrey Hills and added a beautiful hanging chair to one of the trees and created a bohemian relaxing area in the mini Nimbus tipi.”

Although we had Emily on board for faux flowers, I wanted to mix in a local florist too and show that you can be really effective with fresh flowers without needing to use loads and loads of them.

We also wanted to show that you easily mix faux and fresh flowers. Our brides’ bouquet was faux but she wore a fresh flower crown. The table styling the florists ended up with were different as we wanted to mix it up to show couples different options at our open weekend.

Here’s Emily’s gorgeous styled table, using crockery cutlery and llnen from Couvert and made even more gorgeous by Dani from Curated Kitchen’s with her grazing table set up.

Kayleigh of The Flower Hub uses mainly local growers and British flowers so ensures they do not come with the carbon footprint of hundreds of air miles. Here’s her beautiful and vibrant styled table.

An outdoor wedding isn’t an outdoor wedding without some bell tents. Beautiful Bells is one of our go to bell tent suppliers, they offer such beautiful interiors and their draped bridal tent is to die for.

Bubbles e Birra is a beautiful new Piaggio prosecco bar run by Allison and her brother Peter.

Here’s VW Photo Bus, a funky VW conversion owned by Emmelina Stork, who has the most awesome props.

Loretta from Sweet Treats whipped up these beautiful cakes. Loretta is actually a super creative former Fiesta Fields bride who has recently set up her cake making business.

Talented Nyree of Paint & Ink Studio provided place names for the styled tables.

It was such a pleasure working with a fab group of suppliers and we can highly recommend each and every one of them. We hope this provides you with some inspiration and if you would like a field for an outdoor wedding or beautiful blank canvas to make your own then please get in touch nikki@fiestafields.co.uk
