Chris & Emily’s stunning sailcloth wedding in the Surrey countryside

their vibe

Emily & Chris married at St Andrews Church in Oxshott and followed with a reception in a beautiful sailcloth marquee at Phoenice Fields in Surrey. The colour scheme was pastel blue with amazing floral design bringing a riot of seasonal colour.

the ceremony

Emily and Chris headed to Phoenice Fields a little ahead on their guests, in the immaculate baby blue vintage VW Beetle. Taking the opportunity to enjoy the space, have some one-on-one time and some couple shots with Sophie. Phoenice Fields is totally secluded and has far reaching views across neighbouring fields. We leave grasses longer in places, not only to benefit the wildlife but because it looks prettier too.

the marquee

Sail and Peg provided a 40 x 80” sailcloth tent. With one third given over to a dance floor and bar and two thirds set up with three long rows of banquet style seating. Low strung fairy lights gave a magical feeling when day turned to night and festoons strung across the top of the marquee added to the evening atmospheric feel.

the styling

Emily and Chris opted for cross back chairs and white tablecloths, with baby blue knotted napkins, blue rimmed plates and blue water glasses. Through the middle of the tables ceramic vases were filled with colourful blooms paired with light blue tapered candles.

Their bespoke floral stationery theme was used for table numbers, order of service, table plan and menu cards. Personalised laser cut guests names completed the place settings.

the flowers

Flowers were a real feature and the brief to Mad Lilies was “informal, chilled, bringing the outside in, not too structured with a festival vibe”

As well as the vases dotted on the tables, each run of tables featured a statement floral spray at the end.

The entrance to the marquee was marked with large displays, paired with large glass lanterns. Emily’s bouquet was beautifully soft and whimsical.

The flower list to achieve the look included; Peonies, Lisianthus, Clematis, Delphinium, Garden Roses, Phlox, Stocks, Sweet Peas and many more.

what they wore

Emily wore a beautiful low backed, lace gown from Eliza Jane Howell, purchased from Teokath of London and veil.

Chris wore a three-piece, baby  blue suit from Moss Bros with paisley bow tie, in contrast with his groomsmen who wore dark navy suits, also from Moss Bros.

The bridesmaid’s dresses from ASOS perfectly complemented the colour scheme, with dresses of pastel blue with a floral print.

the reception

As guests arrived, they were greeted with welcome drinks, served by Too Many Cooks. They enjoyed champagne, pimms and elderflower and an acoustic guitarist Marcus. Luckily the weather was perfect and guests could sit on the hay bales seating and take in the countryside views.

When it was time to move in to the marquee, guests were ushered in for speeches from the Father of the bride, Emily and Chris. Saving bridesmaids and best man speeches for after the meal.

“We had the most amazing wedding day. It was so special to have the church service and then celebrate with everyone in the beautiful field setting. How it all came together was incredible and gave the chilled but special vibe we had been after!”
